SINCE 9/11 Welcomes Sir Simon Schama as an Official Patron

Sir Simon Schama, who was in New York on the day of the September 11th attacks, has previously spoken passionately about the requirement for students to know what happened in the build-up to and on the day of 9/11. He is also an advocate for the teaching of tolerance to be incorporated into the education system.

Sir Simon Schama has long been a supporter of the SINCE 9/11 mission, giving an emotive speech at the unveiling of the Since 9/11 artwork in Battersea Park, Schama spoke of the importance of the artwork as being transformative and reflective.

Sir Simon Schama also spoke at the SINCE 9/11 Education Conference in 2017, providing a unique perspective on the history of conflict and the importance of societal inclusiveness, stating in his closing remarks: 

“We have to contest civilisation’s tendency to retreat into tribes of people who look like each other.”
